I like to use the metaphor of the "umbrella of the mind". Many people have their mental umbrellas closed around themselves. Before they are able to see out to a greater world of possibilities, they must first open their minds.
Ask yourself if you feel a draw to any other time or to any other land. Do you have an affinity to another language, to another culture? What does your spirit have to tell you about life?
Think of the possibilities. When you lived before, where would it have been? What time period in history interests you? Does a time or culture frighten you, or give you feelings of uneasiness? Can you imagine yourself in another life, in another cultural, or language setting, in another time and place, for better or for worse? This imaginative process is the beginning doorway to knowledge of personal past lives.
It will empower an increased awareness of the grand theater of life and spirit which expresses in our world as the drama of living history. Living history surrounds us every day, in every way.
It is necessary to begin by developing a meditative bridge between the outer mind and the inner mind, between the outer world of personality and the inner realms of your soul life.

Seeing into the Akashic Record, and retaining knowledge of it, is a common subject in all esoteric schoolswithin every one of the great religious faiths. It has been described, though rarely with great clarity, by spiritual seers in many ages.
Spend time studying the connected lives. Experience the gateway and see where it might lead.
